A bushfire that threatened homes in the southern Perth suburb of Hammond Park is now under control.

A BUSHFIRE that threatened homes in the southern Perth suburb of Hammond Park is now under control.
Firefighters had been protecting houses in Atkins Parade and will remain at the scene overnight to complete mopping up operations.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services latest advice at 4.40pm stated that the fire had now been contained and controlled.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but the blaze burned out 4.5 hectares after it was reported at about 2.40pm.
The Helitacs that had been deployed to fight the blaze have now been released.
People are advised that there is a lot of smoke in the area.
The fire was being fought by thirty career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters.
Several roads in the area remain closed, including: Weetman Road and Bellingham Road, between Inverson Boulevard and Atkins Parade.
