A COLLISION has occurred between a refuelling barge and a private boat off Fremantle.
There are reports that one person is injured and the boats are being towed back to shore this afternoon.
A Fremantle Ports spokeswoman said there was a "minor collision" between a private vessel and the refuelling or "bunkering" barge, Parmelia 1.
"It happened south of South Mole about 800m offshore. The Department of Transport will be investigating," the spokeswoman said.
Water Police could not be reached for comment. A Sea Rescue Fremantle spokesman said volunteer rescue crews were not called to the incident, which was handled by Fremantle Ports.
In 2011, the same barge hit the Fremantle rail bridge, damaging the crossing and causing headaches for commuters when train services were disrupted.
