A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash on the Mitchell Freeway this afternoon as police search for the car involved.

POLICE investigating a suspected hit-and-run crash on the Mitchell Freeway in Leederville that killed a motorcyclist have tonight found a vehicle of interest and are questioning a man over the incident.
Major Crash officers tonight found a white Toyota Hilux in Escot Road in Innaloo and the vehicle is being seized for forensic investigation.
A police spokesman said a man was assisting police with the investigation.
The crash occurred at about 4.45pm at the intersection of the freeway and Vincent Street in West Leederville.
The motorcyclist, believed to be a man, died after a Toyota Hilux reportedly hit him and dragged the bike along the road for up to a kilometre in the northbound lanes.
Police say it is unclear at this stage whether the motorcyclist was dragged along with the bike by the Hilux.
Police had been looking for a white Hilux since early in their investigation.
A witness to the crash told PerthNow that people who stopped did such a commendable job trying to revive the motorcyclist and even continued to help when ambulances arrived.
The crash has caused significant peak hour traffic delays on the freeway. Police warned motorists travelling northbound to completely avoid the area as the freeway between the Leederville train station and Vincent Street exit was expected to be blocked for several hours.

In another incident, a person was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital by the rescue helicopter after being injured in a crash this afternoon on the Forrest Highway in West Pinjarra. Traffic diversions are in place in that area.
